Wisdom…#Not Strength(Pt 1)

Within us all lies the power to do anything if only we are wise. The only limitations we see are ourselves. I was always worried as to how I would face my lecturer much less pass his course. He is always stern and always strict with his feedbacks. He leaves you with so much anxiety after his classes and he is very spontaneous but very resourceful and flexible. Last week he announced there will be a test and preparation kicked off. I made sure I studied despite the stress and activities  of the day, I wanted to make sure I don’t fail myself.  I focused on the difficult topics without paying attention to the simple ones and guess what? It was the simple ones that came out and nothing from the hard and difficult topics. I was mortified and speechless. It was like standing in a fog and having it rain at the same time. The simple question that appeared on the question paper appeared difficult because I didn’t prepare for it. I felt the difficult topics should be studied more than the simple ones. How wrong i was…
To the Glory of God I was able to answer the question. I understood the meaning of the quote ” When you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail”. I like to set high expectations for myself, and I try not to get discouraged if and when I come up short. With every failure I know I am one step closer to success. Never say you have failed until you have reached your last attempt, and never say it’s your last attempt until you have succeeded. I didn’t loose my confidence during the test, I kept saying to myself I can do this even though I didn’t prepare properly.

1 Corinthians 2:5 “That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.” Relying more on the wisdom of God is more profitable. I studied the difficult topics while God was preparing the simple question from the simple topics for me. I will rely more on his quidiance for subsequent papers and never to rely on my own wisdom.  Jeremiah 17:5-9 explains it better “Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the Lord. He is like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see any good come. He shall dwell in the parched places of the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land. “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?

Trusting God with our lives, even when it makes no sense, is choosing to grab hold of the pearl of wisdom. As Christians we know the vital connection prayer is to our God, yet we let it slip away from our fingers. We choose to rely on our wisdom, rather than trusting and relying on Him.We must be deliberate in choosing to cling to Him. There is great wisdom and reward in depending on our God even in the silence.
