Why Men Are Scared Of Helping….

Lately the word help makes me cringe in fear. And am pretty sure i am not the only one. People think twice before they render any help and this is not meant to be. Experience lived and learned has left many “wicked” so they say.

Recently, I heard the story of a man who ran into a young man that was been maltreated by his boss. Out of his good heart the man offered to help the young man. He invited him over to his house and they discussed on how he could help the young man. He offered to set the young chap up on some business and in return he remits some quota to the boss(the helper) at the end of the month. This young man in question decided to say thank you by organising for the kidnapping of the man and ordered for his family members to be killed. As karma would have it, one of the people he sent to kidnap the man and his family happened to be someone the man saved his life when he had an accident many years ago. The man (kidnapper) opened up to the man(the helper) that he was hired by the young man(the one he helped) to kidnap him and his family and have them killed so he can confiscate his belongings and wealth. He advised the man to leave town and never return so as to enable him say he did as he was instructed. Today, the man lives.

The mind of the helper will forever be in detention any time he hears the word “Help“. What has happened to mankind? When did we become so cold? When did we descend so low both in morals and judgements to bite the fingers that feeds us?. Aside from personal experiences, i have heard tales and woes from various individuals who have been beaten by the fingers they fed.

In Nigeria and most part of the world, its no news of servants planning to kill their masters, kidnapping them, use them for even negative purposes. Also, there are cases of bosses abusing their employees simply because they feel they are superior and in charge, they feel if they should be lenient on them they would abuse it and so on and so forth. Well, I do not blame them, some people are very good in abusing any opportunity given to them.
I feel bad each time i see bosses treat their employees unfairly but yet again i give it a second thought, maybe they have been hurt, betrayed, deceived by their employees or even people they trusted. So, i ask does it mean we can no longer help or offer our assistance to people who needs it? Should we turn deaf ears to the pleas and cries of those in need? What had happened to our conscience? We live in a beautiful world, where every single creation was perfectly made by God. We are supposed to be our brother’s keeper. Today, no man offers any form of help if there is nothing they stand to gain and they back it up with a slang ” Back for ground, money for hand” my Nigeria people especially those in Lagos will understand this words (it’s pigin language).

The rich is supposed to help the poor even the bible affirms that the poor would always be in our midst and they should be attended to “Mathew 26:12, Mark 14:7.” But today the poor has continually made it difficult for the rich to help or even those who are not rich but have a good heart, intention, mindset to offer the little they have. Every body is scared to help, let’s learn to be grateful and appreciative. It is the measure we give that we receive” Luke 6:38 (KJV)  Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” Lets cultivate the habit of praying for our helpers no matter how little their assistance are to us. They deprived themselves some comfort to make you happy.

If we do not change and stop sowing the seeds of ingratitude, the world will know no help any more. For whatever seed a man sows he will reap “Galatians 6:7 (KJV)  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” For those who still have the mind to help or do good do not stop. Keep doing what you are doing but apply wisdom and know that your good works are not going unnoticed by God nor by man and when you least expect it, your goodness will speak out for you.
Shallom…..
