The Beauty Of Mercy…(pt2)

Jonah was feeling guilty thinking that he was done with. The situation looked impossible, there was no way he was going to get out of the mess he got himself into. God has a way even when we don’t see a way. Situation may seem like it could never turn out right, you made a mess and now it’s complicated, people are involved, all the odds are against you…Be encouraged, God already has the solution, he already knows how to not only get you out of the mess but also how to clean up the mess you created by yourself and bring you out better.

All of a sudden, this big fish came and swallowed Jonah up. Now he’s sitting in the belly of the fish, I bet on one sense he was glad he’s still alive, thankful that he didn’t drown and in another sense  he’s thinking “I wish i would have died; it stinks in here, can’t see anything, trapped, there’s no way out“. But sitting in the belly of the fish, thoughts telling him “Jonah you deserve it, it’s your own fault.” Instead of listening to the accusing voices, the scriptures says Jonah began to pray from inside the belly of the fish and not when he got out(we need to find courage to pray even in the middle of any mess we find ourselves in. That’s when we get to see the beauty of God’s mercy). He didn’t say “God am so undeserving, i’ve made such a mess, please just help me to survive” no he said “I cried into the Lord in my trouble and he answered me”. That was a statement of faith (believe me it’s not easy to do this when all the chips are down and you are down), he was still in the fish, still in trouble, yet he’s declaring “God has answered me Jonah 2:1-9.

Did you notice how much of the prayer was in past tense? I did. Like it had already happened. Jonah had this attitude of God I believe you not only rescued me but I know you will help clean up this message, that you will bless me inspire of my mistakes and i will still fulfill my destiny. That takes boldness to ask for God’s blessings inspire of what you’ve done wrong. Most of the time we just feel guilty, condemned, we have no passion nor love for ourselves. When you have the boldness to say “God i don’t deserve it, i went the wrong way but God i still believe you will bless me, i still believe you will show me favour, i still believe i can become who you created me to become”, when you do this, God doesn’t say “who do you think you are? You know what you did wrong, you should be grateful to even be alive. No, God would do for you what he did for Jonah.

As soon as Jonah got praying, the scriptures says God caused the fish to spit him up on the dry ground. My precious fans God controls and hold the whole universe, he can cause whatever it is that’s holding you back right now; the dis-functional relationship, the addictions, the sickness, the legal problem, the family problems, God can cause it in a split second to set you free, to relates it’s hold. God is in control even if our enemies.

Jonah came out of this fish, washed himself up, thrilled to be alive he knew that was the mercy of God. That could have been the end of the story, that would be great, God rescued him and saved him from trouble but God does not just want to bring you out of trouble, he wants to be there with you every step of the way. Get the right attitude, shake off the guilt, get your passion back and God will give you another chance to get to where you are supposed to be.

That mistake did not dis-qualify you, you didn’t miss your mark because you are a failure or made a mess. The scripture says the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time and what did God say? Jonah I want you to go to Nineveh, the same thing he said the first time. In other words God didn’t say “Jonah i asked you to go to Nineveh once but boy you wore me out, I had to get up from my throne, go find that fish, Jonah you have to sit on the sideline, I will find somebody else”. No, God will always give you another chance any day any time to fulfill the best plan that he has for your life.

It is not too late to become who God created you to be. If you will start where you are honouring God, being your best, serving others, the right doors will open, the right people will show up. God knows how to make up for lost time. He can get you to where he wants you to be.

The point am making here is that Jonah made a wrong turn but that didn’t stop his destiny rather God showed Jonah his mercy is bigger than his mistake. Maybe like Jonah you’ve made a mistake, taken some wrong turns, it’s always easy to sit on the sidelines of life and say “I can’t expect God to bless me, you don’t know what I’ve done, I blew my marriage, fell in love with a married man, took why didn’t belong to me, lied, failed in business, made a thousand poor choices”. Remember, you are no different from Jonah, you can rise up like he did and let the Lord know know that you believe he can turn this mess around and you know he’s got you covered by his unending mercies. If you do this, I believe God is not only going to bring you out, he’s going to make miracles out of your mistakes and you will still fulfill your destiny an become every thing God’s created you to be.

God bless you……

  1. “God already has a solution…” Those very word are so comforting ❤️ I think in all circumstances, we just have to trust in one thing: God has only the best in mind for us and He never makes mistakes. Believing in that, even if all the odds may be against me at the moment, I am still able to have hope and praise my Maker.

  3. explained I believes that was voice of Holy Spirit ! To pull souls out of regression of mistakes; for many times we feel that because of our wrong choices God has disown us ! But the truth is very different ! He loved us when we were His enemies . Christ died while we were still sinners. He loves us and He really loved repented hearts.
God may abundantly use to for His glory.
See you soon on return of our saviour .
