Searching For Your Purpose? #2

If my sister left her six year old daughter with me without telling me how she likes her meal done, what her favorite meal is, her likes and dislikes, her favorite cartoon, her spot on subject in school, I wouldn’t know any. Only her the mother knows all these and unless she tells me, I would only be doing a guess work. In the same way, you cannot arrive at your life’s purpose by starting with a focus on yourself. You must begin with God.

Many at times we try to use Him for our own self-actualization, but that’s a reversal in nature, that leads to failure. You were made for him and not the other way round. We are not supposed to use him for our own purpose, we are to allow him use us for his own purpose.

How then do we discover our purpose? You can discover your identity and purpose through a relationship with Jesus Christ. You may say, I have read books on how people found their purpose outside Jesus and still succeeded, well, that might be true but my dearest you can succeed in reaching a goal if you put your mind to it, I mean anybody can do that 😊. But bear in mind that being successful and fulfilling your life’s purpose are not the same thing. You can reach all your personal goals, become a raving success by the world’s standard, and still miss the purpose for which God created you.

God was thinking of you long before you ever thought about him. His purpose for your life predates your conception and the purpose of your life fits into a much larger, cosmic purpose that God has designed for eternity. Rick Warren – “It’s not about finding the right career, achieving your dreams, or planning your life. It’s not how to cram more activities into an overloaded schedule. It’s about becoming what God created you to be”.

Today, put God first, clarify your values, set your goals and allow him direct you.

  2. I love this. I feel as though I’ve been thinking about myself my own life. I always wanted to know what God’s purpose for me. This is a question I’ve have had been wanting an answer to ever since I got saved in May 1998 and now I think I finally might get somewhere. I have to start with God like you said. I was created for his purpose. I never thought of that till you just said it. I feel like a baby Christian learning all these things for the first time, but I think it’s a sign that God is changing me. He’s changing me so I can handle the things he’s walking me through. I like that. I like that he’s changing me. I want to be the best version of me and I can’t do that unless I put God first. It’s something we should all strive for. It truly is. This is just what God wanted for me to hear. Thank you. I love you and thanks for letting God use you to share this beautiful truth me and I hope all those who read this are inspired to put God first and then everything else will fall into place. I love that. Thank you. Thank you so much!

    1. Cathleen dear I am so happy to read your responses. You are very precious to Him, His thoughts for you are for good that you may come to your expected end. Great and mighty things he will do through you as you continue to walk with him. The road will not be void of thistles and thorns, it won’t be void of trials but He will walk you through them all. I love you too and everything will keep getting better with Him by your side.
The only currency one should have in life humility and Inspiration. May God continue to inspire you as you walk with Him. Thank you very much for dropping by and sharing with us.

  3. i feel that not all of us have a single purpose in life. i also feel to dwell on worrying or searching for that purpose rather than living your life can be counter productive. some of us may have a single purpose in life like finding a cure for a disease. but for the rest of us, maybe we have many little purposes in life and we just dont know it when we do those things. like open a door, or give spare change to the needy, or the job we do. how about that kind word to a stranger, or just saying thank you to you significant other. we never know what the little things do and that can be our purpose. life’s purpose? how about just life itself. it can be just that simple.

    1. Hi Buddy, thank you very much for dropping by and sharing your beautiful thoughts. I don’t dispute the fact that we may have one purpose, many purposes etc. I am of the opinion that we begin our search with God and allow him order our steps. When we discover our purpose through him, be it doing our jobs diligently, offering a kind word to that stranger, saying thank you to another, we are bound to find fulfillment in it. There’s joy in us knowing we are being what God has called us to be.
Buddy 😊 life is indeed simple but it can be a whole more simpler when we walk with God. Don’t you think so?
I appreciate your kind response. It’s always a pleasure to hear from you. Thanks buddy.
