“A farmer once said his mule was awfully backward about going forward.” This is also true of many people today, right? Are you backward about going forward? I want you to know that there’s no future in the past. You’re more likely to make mistakes when you act only on past experiences. ” No man is rich enough to buy back his past believe me.
If you look back too much, you’ll soon be heading that way. Mike Murdock said,” Stop looking at where you have been and start looking at where you can be.” Your destiny and call in life is always forward, never backwards. Katherine Mansfield advised, “Make it a rule of life never to regret and never to look back. Regret is an appalling waste of energy. You can’t build on it. It’s only good for wallowing in.”
Let’s examine the words of apostle Paul in Phillipians 3:13-14 “Forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead… I press forward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus”. You’re more likely to make mistakes when you act only on past experiences. Looking so much at the past makes you miss out in the future.
The past is always going to be the way it is. Stop trying to change it. Your future contains more happiness than any past you can remember. Broken things can still be mended only if we allow God do the mending and stop trying to do it ourselves. Believe that the best is yet to come. When you are depressed, you will find that it is because you are living in the past.
What’s a sure sign of stagnation in your life? When you dwell on the past at the expense of the future, you stop growing and start dying. Edna Ferber-“Living in the past is a dull and lonely business ; looking back strains the neck muscles, causing you to bump into people not going your way”. The first rule of happiness we must all remember is to avoid dwelling on the past. Nothing is far away as one hour ago.
The past is so yesterday and you can’t have a better tomorrow if you are constantly thinking of yesterday. Yesterday’s thoughts robs you of today’s glory. Your past shouldn’t define, allow it refine you!
True words of reality and such great quotes to go with them. The past is your past and why bring them in the future or present moment. Very nice read Whitney. Thanks for the share
