Silver Linning…

There are times in life when we fall, everything crashes and hope fizzles out. Getting up becomes difficult and fear becomes all embracing. We become scared of giving ourselves the best things that we truly desire and deserve. Our scars become stronger than our strength and healing becomes harder. We loose the passion and will to do anything for ourselves much less for another person.

Anger consumes every rationality we’ve got and tears becomes the fountain of any peace we desire. Every cloud has its silver lining, the problem is we have chosen not to see them. Fear, anger, anxiety, rejections, hopelessness, doubts, reproach takes over everything that we once believed or held sacred.

“A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.” – Herm Albright.

Today, I encourage you to know that there is still hope for a better today and tomorrow and it begins with you having the right mindset and attitude to life. This doesn’t come easy. It requires lots of work, patience and dedication. You’ve got to believe that there’s good in anything and everything.

Let me share this little story with you to portress my point:

A young man sets his alarm to wake him up at 5am to enable him beat the traffic and get to work on time, instead he woke up by 7am. Angry and disappointed he hurriedly freshened up and got into his car and discovered that he had a flat tire. Angrily he sent for his mechanic who came and discovered that not only did he have a flat tire, the oil in the car needs to be changed. The mechanic used extra one hour, thirty minutes to finish his work.
As the young man was about to get into his car and hurry off, his phone rang and in the process of bringing it out from his pocket, it slipped off his hands and fell to the ground, crashing and going blank. The young man was so irritated, angry and screamed out “Can this day get any worse?”. In all this madness happening around him, he managed to pray and this was the response he got from God:

“My son I know you think all hope is lost and nothing makes sense. Everything is working out for your own good and let me show you why I allowed all that happened. I know your tomorrow from yesterday! Last night when you set the alarm you forgot to change the battery as you said you would a day before. You didn’t remember and I didn’t bother to help you for a reason. Your son while playing yesterday with a sharp object punctured your tire but I didn’t allow him to injure himself, rather I allowed the maid to save him and not your tire. Your mechanic coming in the morning when you’re supposed to leave was for a reason. The route you take to work every day was under chaos. A tank carrying a truck load of diesel fell and caught fire killing almost everyone around and left a few badly injured.
Your phone slipping from your hands was no accident. Your friend and colleague at work, who you love and trust so much, has always been jealous of your success and had planned to set you up. If you had picked the call, his plans would have succeeded. Everything happens for a reason my son! The problem is you are limited in your thoughts and loose hope even faster than the speed of light. ” Cliche right?

One of my philosophy in life is” Don’t get beat down to the point you can’t get back up“. I try to see the good in every situation no matter how ugly it is. That’s my own idea of “silver lining “. It doesn’t necessarily mean that things just fall in place all the time and when I want them to, it simply means I choose to be hopeful while I work on having the right attitude to handle the situation. Your attitudes to life determines your aptitude.

Now, if I can achieve my goal or not is prerequisite to my attitude towards it as long as I believe it is always “worth the effort”. I accept the consequences of what I have done and in what I have failed to do and find the opportunities in those consequences. The clouds you see today are only but momentary, soon they will be swept away to reveal the sun and the shadows as well will disappear. The cycle of life will continue and in order not to get lost, you must look and see beyond” the now”!
Romans 12:12 “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer“.

“Always turn a negative situation into a positive situation.-Michael Jordan”

Anger won’t make your problems easier. Tears won’t bring back what is gone. But a smile, and gratitude will make you stronger. Find your silver lining today!

    1. Thanks David for sharing. The truth is we all look but see differently. We must try to look at the bright side of life.
Life is at its weakest when there is more doubt than trust. But life is at its strongest when one learns to trust despite all the doubts. ❤️

  2. https://polldaddy.com/js/rating/rating.jssuperbly written . Everyone’s life has ups and downs but what is more important is to handle worst situation in best way . I have gone through the situation you wrote on the first two paragraph but i never give up and i will not ever. My bad decisions taught me how to take decisions , bad people taught me whom to trust and whom to not, but all we have to do is to learn and keep going in life …
