Learn To Relax!

Hi everyone,

It took me a long time to learn that no matter how great your cause is, when you push yourself beyond the boundaries of wisdom, you suffer exactly the same results as those who burn out in any other endeavor. This week has been streesfully wonderful for me. I didn’t pay much attention to my body calling out to me to rest. I just kept pushing myself because I had goals and deadlines to meet. The bitter truth is that my body just shut down without informing me and I didn’t have any choice but to succumb and get some rest.

This may come as a revelation to you, but you’re supposed to get tired! There’s no rocket science to this. Fatigue is a God-given boundary that prevents you from pushing yourself over the edge. Why do we run ourselves into the ground anyway? Are we not aware of our souls need for rest, or even the telltale signs of burnout?

We’re like the driver who’s so concerned about where he’s going and how fast he can get there, that he doesn’t notice that the engine’s knocking, the tires are losing air, and gas tank’s is almost empty. Then, when the car breaks down, he wonders what happened. The answer is, that he should heeded the signs and so should we!

While you(we) plan and put appointments on your calendar, you should schedule rest periods too. Timely rest restores your energies and maintains your abilities, so that you can function at full capacity. On the other hand, being pulled in too many directions, drains your joy and causes you to give less than your best.

Are you extended or overextended?, tired, worn out? Jesus said in Mathew 1128-30 “Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke and put it on you, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit; and you will find rest. 30 For the yoke I will give you is easy, and the load I will put on you is light.” If you’re having trouble maintaining the peace, and strain is showing up in your family, your health, and your attitude then consider taking out when you need it. Refuse to be driven by others. People have a tendency to think they know what’s best for you. The truth is, they don’t! You alone know when you need rest.

If our loved ones have to choose between having less or having you, they’ll always choose you. The problem is we don’t give them that choice. Our lifestyle is our children blueprint. If you neglect them now, don’t be surprised when they neglect you later. Work shouldn’t be used as a narcotic. Workaholism, like any other addition, only masks the problem and effort without reward destroys motivation.

Whether it’s yourself, your children, employees, everyone needs time to recharge their batteries. “If you work hard… Play hard!”

  1. Nice again Whitney. Relax could be a trap word to human beings in order to an easy expression and taking the decision to relaxing is a philosopher stone to citizen as me. We have a long way to target it and relax is a wondrous word with a spellbound meaning … go ahead readers!

  2. Great post Whitney,

people are strange sometimes, they want to create our life according to their wishes.According to their life. We need a lot of courage to don’t judge other people’s life, no matter how they live.

    1. Beautiful response Ben. We need to watch out for people whose words try to control and dictate our lives.
Life is full of crazy people, before we decide to judge them, let’s make sure our lives is not one of them.
Thanks a lot for dropping by and sharing Ben. 💕

  3. I certainly have been caught in the web of busy, but most of the time it is to escape the reality of the situation I now find myself in. Sometime the separation is so real it is smothering.
