Love always makes the difference. It interfaces with other basic needs such as security, self-worth, and significance. My sense of self-worth is fed by the fact that my man loves me. I mean after all, if he loves me, I must be worth loving. My parents may have given mixed feelings or negative messages about my worth, but my man knows me as an adult and loves me good. His love builds my self-esteem.
If I feel loved by my man, I can relax, knowing that my lover will by no means do me ill. I feel secure in his presence. I may face many uncertainties in my vocation. I definitely may have enemies in other areas of my life, but with man, I feel secure. Yes, when life happens, it seems love isn’t ever enough but underneath the pain, stress, tensions and all, we will find ourselves longing for some kind of loving.
The need for significance is the emotional force behind much of our behavior. Our life is driven by the desire for success. We all want our lives to count for something, or mean something to someone, especially those we love. We have our own idea of what it means to be significant, and we work hard to reach our goals.
Feeling loved is one of the best feelings in the world and it enhances our sense of significance. It makes you feel strong, relevant, bold and beautiful in every kind of way. The power of love God has given us is so strong, it can tear down walls and flatten all mountains. If God could love us and send his son Jesus Christ to die for us, we must have significance.
Based on our thoughts and emotions, we eventually make decisions. We are creatures of choice. We have the capacity to make choices and that is easily reflected in our personal, socio-economy life. We have spoken critical words, and have done hurtful things. How can we express genuine love, when we are full of hurt, anger, and resentments of past failures? We are not proud of those choices, although they may have seemed justified at the moment.
Every day, I seek more ways to love people the best way I can. The truth is, love doesn’t erase the past, but it makes the future different. Love is not the answer to everything, but it creates a climate of security where we can look for answers to things that bothers us. When there is love, conflicts can be resolved, two people who are different can learn to live together in harmony. We discover several ways to bring out the best in each other. That’s the power of love.
“Love doesn’t keep scores of wrongs. It doesn’t bring up past failures. None of us is perfect. We don’t always do the right things. We can not erase the past. We can only confess it and agree that it was wrong. We can ask for forgiveness and try to act differently in the future, only then will ” Love” make a difference”.
Blessings and Love
